Re: New user, New Mosin, unsure of date or manufacturer AZF + [SA] Hex M91.

So Bill, it sounds like you have seen a lot of exploding milsurps in your long and impressive collecting life. I haven't been at it nearly as long, which is probably why I've never seen it happen, except for the occasional over-loaded, over-pressured hand loaded ammunition. So lets find out this, w...

Re: New user, New Mosin, unsure of date or manufacturer AZF + [SA] Hex M91.

If it passes headspace, it should be safe to shoot. Shoot it and enjoy it. Gee without a decent overall picture and only checking head space you safety check it over line statement from a new collector. You are sure he knows enough to do that and ok it online too. Not my head and eyes so Good Luck!...

Re: M39 advice

I have a couple of B Barrels any of which I will sell for $650 or more. Now you get down to the fact I bought them for about $110 when JYD bought his and you see why! Timing is pretty important with collector rifles as you see. I set prices on what it would cost me to replace it these days. If it is...

Re: New user, New Mosin, unsure of date or manufacturer AZF + [SA] Hex M91.

Once a rifle is started on the road to a sporter it is flat too much money, time, and parts these days to bother and try at replace the offended parts with unbutchered parts. From a conservative point of view this is especially true with an M91. An M91/30 is more possible to try and repair and make ...

Re: Would you refinish this stock?

I would not refinish or make steps toward "restoration" of any military collector rifle as it would destroy to me the collector value of the weapon. People who buy or sell in the bounds of said Collector pieces often end up with a rifle of value only to a certain few "collectors"...

Re: We need to move!

I use internet so infrequently these days if you move I may not notice it for weeks. I buy face to face and haven't bought stuff on internet in years. Maybe parts through my buddy Joe but really that is it for internet buying or reading for me. Gotta Move Go for it! Bill :D

Re: 2 Confused Finns

One is in a double sling slot M28 stock if that one is original to that stock it is a nice find for sure. What is the serial number on that one? Both are nice looking rifles worth at least $400 or so. Bolts matched to the actions? I can not make out the barrel markings but it looks like the stocks a...

I've seen more than a few at $1,200. There is one for sale now at $1380 shipped 1941 Tula Finn Capture L marked in the star. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk They can be had for less than that too if you shop around and are cheap like we are. Bargaining in person at shows is much easier than onli...

Re: SVT 40

First ones I saw were $125 to $100 each from Canada they said and Century was hawking them and could not give them away for that price. Somebody posted an advertisement of them for I think $34.95 or some such figure. That price predated me so God knows what that date was. The old saying was they're ...

Re: 1907 carbine sold

Yes the deals are out there but these days the deals require a bit more money than most of us are willing to pay. At least most of the people who post on here or other forums. The people who spend most of the money rarely look at or much less post on here or other forums. They don't know how cheap m...

I bought bits and pieces of that Greek ammo over the years at auctions and have seen it do well in my Jungle Carbine too. I don't reload but save the shells for a buddy who does now. One of the best shooting surplus rounds I have found. Watched an original can go well over $400 at auction earlier th...

Re: Sorry for the down time!!

In the summer I often go weeks without reading forums these days so when I hit a roadblock I just go somewhere else for kicks and knowledge. This Summer I'm looking around for a street rod to play with too so that has kept me busy. Been out of the shop for weeks and haven't shot for awhile either. I...

Re: M44 firing pin question

I shoot nothing but lacquer cased Monarch in my Mosin's and have yet to experience a sticky bolt. Never ran into it in any of my previous ones either, but then I had a meticulous cleaning regimen that I did on all "new" purchases. Go buy a lottery ticket for you have been very lucky so fa...

Re: M44 firing pin question

Certain little habits will help you avoid sticking bolt syndrome if you can train yourself to act accordingly. One thing is to never chamber a round till you are ready to aim and shoo0t it. The next obvious move is to get it out of the chamber fast after shooting it and leave the bolt open till you ...
