Type 38's have gone up in price lately and have become more scarce in my neck of the woods. The ones you do see are either really rough or in good condition for $500+. I think I paid $300 for mine about 3 or 4 years ago and wondered if I over paid. Mum was intact, but mismatched. Great shooter.

Mines a tack driver with handloads and looks similar to yours. It's uncommon to find one with a matching bolt. You got it at a great price too. Congrats!

Nice score! You might try an impact driver with the correct size bit before drilling out that one screw. That will usually break a screw free. Maybe hit it with Kroil for a day or two first. If all the screws are staked, maybe just leave it as is?

I was fortunate to spot a PL marked VKT M91 at a gun show with qz2026. I pointed out this imaginary hot blonde in the aisle over from us and as qz2026 was spinning around looking for the beauty I grabbed the rifle and was fishing for my wallet before he knew what I had.

Your K98 bolt should be turned down. The Gew 98 is a straight bolt.
