Just took out a 1937 Ishevsk hex receiver that I've owned for years but never had the opportunity to fire.
Hey, it shoots where I point it and it didn't blow up! 2 Thumbs up.

Fabulous groups! Any one of those shots would do the trick... and you'd have 9 bullet to spare.

Now wrap it in gray rags and twine and you'll have it looking authentic.

Re: My first Mosin: 1943 Izhevsk 91/30
Did this rifle off a number of Nazis? What would the original owner think of his trusty battle rifle, one day ending up in the hands of a white-bread suburbanite Texan... Who knows if this rifle felled any Germans. It's at least as likely that the first soldier issued this weapon died with it in hi...

Re: in 11 daze.......
Nice M39 :) I love that sign he has up on the safe door, I had to blow it up to see it, I thought it said accident free for 0 days  Reminds me of a steel mill in Gary Indiana I passed by on the train years ago. On the way out, it said "152 days since last fatal accident". On the way ...

Re: First Mosin. Value? Opinions?
Greeting and welcome to the forum, Weiser. Refurb Mosins are the best Mosins! After winning the Great Patriotic War, Uncle Joe took all the rifles he could find, stripped millions of them down to parts and tossed the pieces into big barrels for refurbishment and long term storage, against the threat...

Re: bubba lives in bulgaria also
I believe that fence surrounds the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense. (Bulgaria's recently joined NATO, for better or for worse to the citizens of that nation - only time will tell). That line of rifle barrels represents soldiers' lives expended in driving out the Nazi invaders; it's as fitting a war me...

It can sit in the back of a closet for 20 years and be ready to go as soon as you need it.

Re: Who else???
There are plenty of 1903's out there, just get an original. I put 100 rounds through mine yesterday, it got better and better... what a perfect pistol! I wonder how much rifling is actually left? Obviously some. Apparently, the rifling is enough. After cleaning and putting the Colt away ...

I was in the LGS the other day and saw an M38 at a decent price. Too bad my toy allowance was used up for the month...

I was at the LGS yesterday and saw two crates of Mosins - I'd never seen 'em like that before. Most impressive, they had me drooling.

Re: Who else???
Got it! Built in 1912, it has clearly seen a lot of use. After 101 years the rifling is merely a suggestion.
Stripping down this firearm for cleaning is more fidgit-y than I'm used to, manufacturers have made it easier to get at innards in more recent designs.

I'm planning to get a .32 tomorrow. It has an interesting history, I'm told - used by a Burlington Northern cop back in the days when train jumpers were common.

I owned one years ago - what a great gun! I'm sorry I sold it off. I never had a problem with it: easy to break down & clean, accurate, fun to shoot. You can't go wrong with one of these!
