Re: 1957 Chinese SKS with rack number
Some of these Chinese SKS were sold to Egypt. Eventually sold on the world market and some ended up here. Same with some originally sent to Syria. Israeli captures sent else where perhaps. But a rack number has turned up on a few of them. Just another possibility.

Re: Chinese sks in Albanian stock
That is known as a Sino-Banian. About 3 years ago they came to the US by the thousands from Albania! Many dealers still have some on their shelves. There were a lot of Russians that came in with them illegally. SOMEONE replaced all the Russian receiver covers with old Chinese covers. Customs missed ...

Re: 1908 M96 Swedish Mauser
Just a tip for accuracy. Get rid of that after market flash hider. Sweden did not use them. Swedes used a metal cap or a plastic cap over the treads only. Mostly the plastic thread cap. If you shoot way high at 100 yards, there are new front sight blades available from a few surplus companies. For 1...

Holy Grail Found! 1949 matching Russian.
A guy on another board found this one at a KC gunshow. Some pawn shop had it for sale cheap. Is a refurb as all 49 seem to be. But, 100% original configuration. Stock is a replacement. But that seems to be it. It appears this is only the second or possibly third known in this country. Heaven only kn...

Re: Yugo SKS pic
With all of the brand spanking new Yugo's being imported today from Slovenia, you may as well shoot the heck out of it.
Including new Ceremonial SKS. Along with all the New Bulgarian Makarov pistols. Values of these new ones have taken a hit in prices now.

Re: More Bulgarian Maks arrived.
New, old stock, without doubt, found in the back of a warehouse. :) Congrats, that is super! Several of us think the same thing. From CAI tags on this last import, it kinda looks like they received these about 3/20/15. Then started shipping them in early May of this year. There were a lot of rough ...

More Bulgarian Maks arrived.
Well, took three tries to get a shooter type of one. http://i714.photobucket.com/albums/ww150/stevan12/Bulgarin%20Mak%2010%20Shooter/100_2437_zpsp22esqdm.jpg Then, long story, but I was talking to a Gun Store near Nashville. Asked him about Bulgarians. Had several in stock from last CAI import. Told...

Re: The second Makarov arrived today!!
Personally I would consider a 3rd for shooting even if I needed to wait a bit. Especially since you can t get your friend to transfer it for free. This may be what I have to do. Both of these are a bit too valuable to shoot. Many guys will disagree, but condition, condition, and condition dictates ...

Re: The second Makarov arrived today!!
The thing is now, they are so perfect that they are very collectable to the Mak guys. Both were cheap prices even with shipping. These are rarely ever seen in this condition now a days. The Man Above had to have guided my finger that night. I am thinking the one to shoot may be the first one, the Mi...

The second Makarov arrived today!!
Well, as the dealer said. "It is 100% and has lots of extras." Sure is and did. Problem for me is that both of these I got in a couple of days are so perfect I hate to shoot them. I paid only $359 and $25 shipping from NY on this one. Turns out this one actually is brand new. The owner who...

Re: Picked up a 99% plus Makarov on GB.
I remember seeing these almost unissued Bulgarian Makarovs being sold 4 or 5 years ago. Did it come with two grips? The armorer packs were going for around $80 to $90 on Gunbroker. Should have picked one up. Good find, really nice shooting pistol. I got two grips. I did not know that the original b...

Re: Picked up a 99% plus Makarov on GB.
The grip actually is more Brown than red. Which is great for me. The red ones actually are Russian or Chinese. This one is a true Bulgarian grip. These have a bit of a rise on the back strap which gives a bit better hold that the others do not have. The boys over on Makarov Dot Com under gun boards ...

Re: Picked up a 99% plus Makarov on GB.
Such a pistol is hard to find at that price indeed. The ones on the market now are nice, but this one is special. You can bet the gentleman that owned it had hand selected it at some point most likely. Old Outlaw, I wasn't aware about your wife's cancer. I am truly sorry to hear of it, and prayers ...

Picked up a 99% plus Makarov on GB.
Well, last week end I was browsing Gun Brokers. There was an add started Friday evening for three days. So, I kept watching this one. Figured that baby would go way up as all the Bulgarians in this condition do. Well, Sunday night there were NO bidders. I just kept shaking my head. Not possible. Wel...

Re: At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks
OK, long shot but it works nearly all the time. Lets just for sake of argument, say someone had a squib in it. Then fired another round. Not as uncommon as many folks will tell you. Especially in older Military rifles. But, some times they got very lucky. Everything was blown out the barrel. So, tak...

Re: At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks
Check the bore and crown carefully. That Prvi 7.65 is highly regarded by others I know who shoot these. Perhaps even have it slugged? JYD makes a good point about those sights. I have heard before they are a bit difficult to master when first shooting one. As I recall, I think they may be sighted in...

Re: Gun Show Find, Swedish M96 Mauser
I suspect my rifle was refurbished and partially refinished at some point in it's life. I like the way it shoots, but I don't like the fact that minimum sight setting is 300 meters. I also don't like the cost of ammo, so it is a rifle that I will not shoot with any frequency. Nevertheless, it is a ...
