Re: Destroyer?
Found out it’s not a Destroyer, but a Montserrat Carbine. It was commissioned for fabrication by a large gun shop in Barcelona, owned by Genaro Castells. Castells was one of the bosses of "Somaten" units, that were paramilitary organizations that operated before and during Spanish Civil Wa...

Re: Destroyer?
The rifle in that post is different. It has no bayonet lug, and has a tube of sorts under the barrel that resembles (but is not) a tube magazine. Mine has an internal magazine and a bayonet lug.

Re: Destroyer?
That video jut generally covers the destroyers we normally see on the market. My question is concerning the variation I have pictured above. It does not have the removable external magazine. I have never seen this on a Destroyer before. When I first got it, I did quite a lot of searching, and found ...

Destroyer?
It’s been a while since I posted here, but I have this carbine that is some variation on the Spanish Destroyer. It has an internal magazine, and a bayonet lug. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen one of these before re, or has good info on it. I bought it at a local auction a couple years ago, an...

Re: Rifle Finish
I have operated milling machines and lathes. My grandfather owned a tool and die shop, and my uncle now runs it. The first operation in milling employs a rough-cut type mill, and a second operation is a finish mill. I suspect they just omitted the finish milling step. As far as the turning process w...

Re: Will the price of MN's go back down
The Mosin 91/30 refurb was cheap initially ($60-$100) for this reason: Few people knew what it was. It was a less attractive, obscure rifle, that fired a cartridge no one had a bunch of. Now people recognize it as a decent battle rifle, and many collectors have bought thousands of rounds of ammo for...

Re: What's the dumbest thing you've ever done with a Mosin
A guy at a gunshow invited me out to look at some rifles in the back of his car. I picked up the first one and looked it over. After a short inspection I opened the bolt, and out flung a loaded cartridge. Treat every weapon as if its loaded. Cant be too strict on that rule. I felt stupid for not che...

I have a 1967 Yugo sks with a bit of trench art that makes me think of the horrors that went on during and since that rifle was built. Nothing good happened in those conflicts.

Re: Quick question about a Swedish M38
I think the bolt is also different on the true m38. It is turned down, whereas the "96/38" is straight. I think both Husqvarna and Carl Gustafs Stads made the carbines in the '40s, but Husqvarna only made them for a few years and in lesser numbers. At least this is how I remember it.

Man that one was grimy. My 1940 m91 was much the same with pine needles to boot. The Finnish m91s shoot great.

I think that is a fine way to take the collection. I am always on the lookout for an m91/30 built after 1944. Haven't found one yet.

Very nice. I have a Remington M91 with no Import marks. Also has no Finn marks either.
