Re: Make friends with your LGS, what did I buy??

100.00 guns are hard to come by anymore. At that price you buy first and ask questions later. Definitely wont go down in value!

Does anyone know what the strange looking stars near the mk1* are? They look like they were added later.

Re: Samco K31

Germany's military was funded by Switzerland (Swiss banking). This is the only answer that makes any sense. Switzerland and Germany have always been friendly with one another. German is one if the official languages of Switzerland and there is a large population of Germans there.

They just have to say something negative when they see a $100-$200 rifle do what the $650 they just bought can do. When the surplus all dries up and the only mosins available are from guys like you and I......

Re: 1947 m44 stock marking question

I cant read the import stamp. It does not appear to be coles. I can make out the word "ridge". The stamp is the smallest import stamp I have ever seen and it is partial/not fully stamped. to answer the preceeding post on why not use a hunting rifle.....its fun to shoot milsurps, its fun to...

Re: Samco K31

The Swiss never resisted the Germans. They claim "nuetrality". How does that work anyway? All that aside I hope you enjoy your new carbine. I bought one a few months ago at a show, but have yet to shoot it. It is a 1940 with all matching no. and original stock that looks pretty good.

Re: 1947 m44 stock marking question

I guess I wont take it out in the woods then. Nice to know its origin and value though. I just figured it was another Russian m44. I like it more than I already did now (and what's not to like about an m44).

These Yugos have a higher value than the straight up Russians? Like how much more? I gave 200.00 for this one last weekend at a show.

Re: Hunting with a M38 or a 91/30- ammunition?

The Russian 7,62x54 is more than adequate for most North American game. Bullet construction is the key. Some "soft" points aren't very soft, like Chinese norinco soft points in 7.62x39. You cant even scratch it with your thumb nail. There is some silver and brown bear ammo that is the same...

Re: 1947 m44 stock marking question

his post explains the better than usual bluing, but the stock is definitely not better than usual. The repair is worse than usual. I thought it would e a good candidate for deer hunting.

1947 m44 stock marking question

I cant say how glad I am that I came across this web site. I have a few milsurp rifles and carbines and unanswered questions for some of them. Here II have a 1947 m44 with almost perfect metal/bluing, but with a less than perfect stock. Anybody have insight as to how this happens? Did they build new...

Sometimes military rifles have marks from the capturing nation. Sometimes they dont. Without marks or stamps you really cant tell.

I was at a show and had just sold one of those guns you wish you had never sold. I was feeling the remorse immediatly. I found this rifle and used the money to buy it..
