Re: Question about this Type 53 Mosin I just got off.
T53's were generally made from "chu" wood for the jungle environment. There are a few in Mosin stocks that came with the machinery when Russia gave it all to the Chinese.

Re: AR Backup Sights
I use these. You will have to put the red dot on a .83 riser to get the sights and the red dot to co-witness. I like these as they have fiber-optic inserts in them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314711973877?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tbqktkl0tw6&sssrc=2047675&ssui...

Re: M91 Carcano
Mine like that doesn't like the .264 bullets that PPU uses, have to load my own. I agree, don't think I ever shoot more than 20 rounds or so, and i use a closed cell slip-on butt pad too!

Re: 1896 M91 Carcano
I load my own for my TS Especial. Grafs has brass and you "might" be able to load pretty much any .264 bullet for it if you're lucky enough that it likes those, otherwise PPU is pretty much the only one making .268 bullets, also available at Grafs. Do NOT waste your time with the cast powd...

I have two propane torch heads that are at least 7 yeas old and work fine, I clean them out every time I change the bottle.

Re: Ammo
I've stocked up on the Monarch brand 7.62x39 from Academy, it's basically rebranded Brown Bear. They went to a zinc coating on their hollowpoints which I tell people those are my werewolf and vampire ammo. I also started reloading for x39 for hunting rounds, the 123gr Hornady SST bullet shoots fanta...

WTS full set of Okiegauges for 7.62x54r
Like the title says, full set, excellent condition, original packaging and even the original instructions...never read! Kidding, I read them once I think many years ago. Anyways, $50 free shipping in the US. Will throw them on ebay if no one here wants them.

Re: Electrical Panel Upgrade
Our 200 amp service has no breaker outside, only way to disconnect it out there is pull the meter. if you want to shut something off you have to do it in the panel inside.

Re: Jaw dropping pricing
All our "extra" cash has been either going into the business for improvements, or the house and property. Cleared out areas and planted fruit trees, 10 plum, 10 persimmon, 10 pawpaw, will add peach and apple in next year. Still need some parts for the renovation of the 1969 IMPALA too, but...

Re: Older 22s
I got two old .22 rifles from a relative of the wife for $20 a piece, one I knew I could get parts for, a mid 60's Stevens/Savage 15A, had to get parts for the bolt on it and fix a crack in the stock. The other one is a 1928-1930 "Premier 22 rifle", from what I can find it was one of Mossb...

Re: Long term storage/stock cracking
I used to keep mine in an old refrigerator that I had fixed up for that purpose, had a hygrometer in it so I could monitor the humidity, you want SOME moisture for the wood but not too much or you get the usual problems like mold and mildew. From the NRA museum: Temperature Ideally, you should store...

I've been toying with the idea of letting my 1928 Izhevsk ex-dragoon 91/30 go, it's in immaculate condition so I bet I could get that $400 for it pretty easy, it's in a gorgeous laminate stock and is the best shooter that I ran across out of all the ones I had over the years...I haven't shot it in p...

Re: Reloading 54R Again
If you can't find any brass suppliers, here's a little tip that many don''t know and how I built up my stock, the extended length blanks that you can get from Sportsmans Guide are PPU brass and once fired you can cut them down to standard brass length and reload full power loads in them.

Re: Difference in vinage front sight tools?
I bought all three tools a long time ago... Don't use them often but when you need to, these tools work great. I don't know why someone would risk ordering one from Ukraine. I guess it depends on if you want a tool for it's functionality or for it's collectability. They might not be the prettiest b...

Re: Difference in vinage front sight tools?
[/quote]Someplace in this mess I have at least two of your tools and all of the Soviet ones in the wood box's. It's been so many years since I had to adjust the sight on any Mosin that I have lost track of all the tools. If needed it's easier to just buy new tools, this is why I have fifty of the sa...
