Re: Reloading for the Mosin Nagant
I use 150 gr .312 diameter bullets with either H or IMR 4895. The charge escapes me at the moment. This loading in either my '28 or '43 Izhevsks will clean an SR1 target at 100 yds. I've shot the '43 at 600 yd matches a few times. Out of a possible 500, it will shoot in the mid-to-high 200's, on par...

Re: Range Results Izhevsk M91/30
I have a '43 Izhevsk that will clean an SR1 target at 100 yds. I've shot it a few times at a 600 yd match. Out of a possible 500 points it has consistently placed in the mid-to-high 200's. It's on-par with my 03-A3. The problem lies not with either rifle, but the 64 yo eyes trying to use iron sights...

Try crocus (sic) cloth, available at your local hardware store, NOT Lowe's or Home Depot, but a REAL hardware store. I use it on my 1863 Springfield rifle-musket.

Re: M44 firing pin question
A mucked-up chamber isn't always the cause of sticky bolt. I polished the mating surfaces on the bolts where they slide against each other and replaced the fp springs with new-made, modern springs. Guess what? No more sticky bolt. I'm just ayin'.....

I replaced my springs with new-made springs and the sticky-bolt syndrome disappeared and there have been no failures to fire or extract.

Re: Blasted Bubba! M28/30 Bedding Removal Help Needed!
An old trick to removing a stuck, bedded stock and action is to literally freeze them. If you have a freezer big enough, put the rifle in the freezer for a couple of days. The metal will shrink more than either the wood or bedding material. Some times the act of freezing/contracting will be enough f...

91/30 at 600 yards
I shoot 600 yard matches at USMCB Camp Pendleton in So Cal. I used to shoot my 03A3 and M1 rifles for the mid range matches but for some unknown reason, the Corps has nixed 30-06 from our range so the search is on for a new long range rifle. I tried the '98 Krag a few times. It's ok for what it is a...

Not to stir the pot, but why would you buy something not knowing exactly what it is? Just curious.

That is called "peening". "Ping" is what you hear when you pull the trigger on your M1 rifle for the 8th time and the clip ejects.tailgunner67 wrote:Some people remove the sight and "ping" the area under it with a punch to raise the metal up for a tight fit.

Indeed, you are correct Sir. I was in a hurry when I read it and it didn't register properly. Now that I have reread it, it makes sense.

ma96782 has the sight adjustment bass-ackwards. Front sight is moved OPPOSITE the direction you want the group to move. The rear sight is moved in the direction you want the group to move.

The math conversion is easy. Just remember this number: .03937. That's what each mm is in inch measurement.

Molot Sanctions
I see today there are a bunch more sanctions against Russian companies or affiliates and Molot is named directly. Maybe I shouldn't be too hasty in selling a couple of my 91/30's. What say you? Is the end really, really, finally in sight? Jon Apparently all rifles from the Molot factory are banned f...

Re: Piette cap and ball
The '60 is just a standard, every day, martially marked, 3-screw frame '60 (you can see the remnants of the WAT stamp on the grip). Dad bought it shortly after the war just because he'd always wanted one. The '49 has some history to it that, unfortunately, can't be proven. It, and the '51 navy that ...

At 60 yards it shouldn't be any bigger than 1.5" group, period. Sounds like your friend got a little cocky and over-confident and couldn't have shot his way out of a wet paper bag.

Re: 1907 Sling on a 91/30
RG,
Thanks for the pics. That is clearly an M1907 sling and the dog collar--at least the bottom one any way--is clearly visable. I guess the only way to know for sure is to just try it and see. I'll let you know how she fares.
Thanks for all the replies.
