Re: Spam can's of ammo?

I've left most of the ammo in their original (8) span ammo boxes, and only opened one of the 440 rnd. cans for shooting purposes, but immediately stored in USGI ammo box that is stored in a humidity controlled environment without a problem. All ammo, primers, and powder is stored in a like manner. O...

Re: CMP question?

It's so easy now... I was a USMCR 0311/2311 vet, but back in the DCM days had to qualify in a DCM match to purchase a M-1, which required the better part of a day plus $$$, and 9 Mos. back then to get a rifle from the Army who operated the DCM. I carried the M-1, but qualified w/ the M-14 (only surp...

If'n JYD would just dig out his collection and take pixs of them then we'd have a better idea of what we have

However, the surplus ammo will be...Can we remember when the were cans were @ 0.33/round or less for the earlier collectors?
It was good to stock up back then!
Life is good when we saw the foreseeable short comings...

Re: 1895 Winchester Russian Contract With Bayo... ALL Matchi

My brother-in-law has a less unique one that his grandfather had in .405 cal. that he used to bust up "pharmaceutical' grade chemical operations up here in the mountains back in the 1930's when he worked for some Federal agency. Which now is one of those alphabet agencies aka ATF. Even in .405 ...

Re: Cabela's refurb 91/30's

Been sitting on them letting them appreciate in value. I got interested in these about 15 years ago but waited till 2013 to buy the first one. The collection is up to 8 and slowly growing, I wish I'd started sooner. Ditto for me too, but then I jumped on 24 Hex's 1/2 Issy's and Tula's @ $195 ea inc...

Re: Judi's Gun Show Score, 3 No-Import Stamps & 1 Import M-

You bought an M1 Carbine with a box o'goodies and have almost three other guns for free. I'd call it magic, too. :D The wooden cleaning rod is a first for me on a Mosin Nagant. But it is not unfamiliar in the Japanese collecting world. Many of the expedient replacements were a simple stick of bambo...

Re: Ultra deep carry on a budget

I was kind hoping to keep this a little private since it's kind of embarrassing. I've live an extremely isolated life and gotten to the point of wanting to explore a little and live life a bit. I'm an introvert to extreme levels. I'm never had anyone but myself to watch my back and have recently go...

Re: Colt 1991A1 Commander

I replaced the hammers, recoil springs to solid one piece rods guides, and added extended mag wells, extended safeties, and grips to my series 80's on both the Commander and Government models, but left the Officer's model stock. The Government Mod. has a ambi-safety as an upgrade too. You can't impr...

Very nice indeed!

The P64's are ideal carry in the summer time, and almost the same dimensions as the PPKS, but with a little better ballistics.

I love all my 9X18 offerings, the P64 are a little perky to shoot versus the Bulgarian or Russian.

I can remember when the Brig on the highway between Pearl and Honolulu sold off their surplus pumps and revolvers back in '58.

I was too young and dad wasn't interested. Everything went for under $25.00 a piece. :o

Re: Degreasing a bulgy makarov

I think that it's just grease and not cosmoline. I use Varsol which is what automotive shops use to clean engine parts, but any good solvent should work, just remove the grips in case the type of solvent you use doesn't attack the plactic.

Re: .45ACP question

I think it is a rough road to go down to select a defensive firearm on the basis of magazine capacity. It doesn't matter how many rounds you have readily available if you can't hit your target, and if you can't defend yourself with six or eight rounds, you are probably lost anyway. Now, if it is an...

Get one that you can carry concealed CCW to protect you and your family on a daily basis.

It's called Makarov 9x18. This one is a Bulgarian Makarov.

Messy? :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: I don't think so, just imagine what all that would look like if Russell's house collapsed on top of it.
