Re: Mosin Stock Disc...

Generally speaking they are easier to find from support units and field artillery than they are from the various frontline combat units (prewar infantry and jaeger units). I personally collect them from the Helsinki Truck Company (H AUTO K) and the prewar Finnish Supply Regiment (HUOLT R). I have en...

Re: 1978 late date no maker M39

It's a 1970 production Late Date that was mislabeled with the 1978 (8 instead of 0) most likely. The serial is not high enough to postdate 1970 production. This happened at times, I know of "1669" dated Late Date where they messed up the "6" and the "9". That being said...

The Finnish Mosin-Nagant: Three Line Rifle to Ukko Pekka (NEW BOOK!)

Hi folks, I've been posting over for the last decade. I've made a lot of friends, some of whom are sadly no longer with us. Some years I posted more than others as I've moved numerous times and shuffled my collection from duty station to duty station. I wanted to let everyone know that I finally act...

That's a really neat find. Not sure I've ever seen one converted from a PTG Tula before. Usually they are Izhevsk conversions.

Re: 1907 carbine question

According to my databases, the last one to sell by itself on a major auction site was a 1909 dated example, 2864 serial.

Sold for $3,726 on Gunbroker on 2/22/15. Sold by 27rv to Chris-w55

In my database I have 37x 1919 dated Tula M91's. The "Big Hammah" variety are in the minority. Was lucky enough to find one at a gun show years ago for $160!

Re: A century has past. Show off your 1917 Mosins.

I've owned a few Sestroryetsk 1917's, still have 25602 which is my favorite because it is built on an 1894 Chatellerault receiver. As for 1917 dated M91 Mosin-Nagant's, here is a quick data break down: Sestroryetsk: high serial 117972, known examples 70 Tula: high serial 476333, known examples 58 Iz...

Re: M39 Review...........Post Your m39's We have some new one's on the forums!!!

Sadly my M39 collection has dwindled in recent years. Still have a few though. The last picture of the 1944 VKT with the high serial is one of my favorites because of its true oddball status. The next highest serial from that year for VKT is 7647x. No idea on the story behind it, although conjecture...

Re: Finnish M27 in strange cloths

capt14k, I have seen several examples like yours. However they are very uncommon. The Finns reused the rear-end halves of M27 stocks to make functional stocks for Tikka M30's and captured M91/30's. Waste not, want not. I have even seen one that still had the unit disk in it! Long story short, your r...

Great find Dave! As I told you before, only the 4th dragoon or updated dragoon from 1919 in the database! Should be more based off the fact that the high is 153914 for that year.

Homer, there's an RV in there. Only issue is that it is in a modified M27 stock.

BB91 has a great collection, believe he is missing the 36 still. Sparky has them all, and he has the 34 VKT...

Great thread, really enjoy seeing all the M27's. The only ones I'm missing are :

PL marked M27 (looking at you Homer...)
1934 VKT (will never happen unless sparky wills it)
1935 VKT (maybe someday)
.22 cal trainer (I can dream, right?)
M27 sniper PH (see above)

Re: Finnish M27 in strange cloths

I have 12 M27's in modified M91/30 stocks in my database. All are dated 1935 or earlier. The common trend with all of them is the location of the "CAI ST ALB VT" import more forward on the muzzle. If a collector finds a supposedly correct M27 in M91/30, but the import stamp is partially or...

Great finds. The round receiver B Barrel is a rare bird indeed. It is only the 6th B Barrel M91 I have seen built on a round receiver. Serials of them all are below:

34291
34292
45810
46125
46553
47497

There are also a handful of round receiver B Barrel M39's.

Re: Two 1943 dated Izhevsk M44's

Just curious as to what you see that indicates Finn use or capture? I have seen Finn M38's but not an M44. The "D" marking on the barrel indicates rechambering for the Finnish D-166 cartridge after capture by the Finns. Another way to determine Finnish use is regraduated Konovalov rear si...

Two 1943 dated Izhevsk M44's

Suffice to say, these two rifles took slightly different paths during WWII. One was part of the handful captured by the Finns, the other was refurbished and saw all its rough spots smoothed out.

Very neat! I've seen few like it! I have also seen a PTG oil bottle, but never an Izhevsk one. Something tells me that most of these probably were worn out/scrapped.

Thanks for sharing!
