Re: Spam Can Prices
Online prices are reasonable, but locally $119 would be a good price for me. The three places near me that sell spam cans are charging $120, $149.99, and $169.99 respectively :big shock:. I need to order another crate quick before these BS SAFE Act restrictions kick in :angry4:. Someplace (AIM I thi...

In my experience SOG always sends good product. I have never ordered from them and been disappointed with what I received .

I don't know enough to be able to say, but the stock is awfully glorious . Either way it's a beautiful rifle

1935 Hex 91/30 from SOG
I am so glad I didn't settle for any of the Mosins I looked at last week. It arrived today and it's a 1935 hex Tula. I was hoping for a Tula and a year I didn't already have and got both. I haven't cleaned the old girl up yet, but I will get some pics up as soon as I do. Boy does it feel good to get...

My wife gets annoyed with me because I can recall Dallas Cowboys scores from 25 years ago but can't remember what she told me this morningWeldonHunter wrote:Yep, Novosibirsk factory 188 1977. I can spell that from memory too, lol. Not bad for me because I can't remember what day it sometimes.

Re: Anyone Recognize this ammo?
What ammo have you been buying, all of mine looks like that. The only lacquered green ammo I've gotten was from a Romanian mauser spam can. Most of the cans I have I picked up last winter from Herb Phillipson's. They never had a country or type listed just "440 round can of 7.62x54" . I a...

Anyone Recognize this ammo?
Hey guys I just popped open a new spam can of 7.62x54 and was surprised (pleasantly) to find it all copper colored as opposed to the green cased stuff I usually find when I open a can. I know we have had spam can marking questions about 50 times, but can any of you identify this ammo? I think Bulgar...

Re: Look what I found for 129.00!
Just so I know, what indicates that is a MOLOT? I don't see anything that tells me that. It looks like a 32 hex in a refurb stock. Nothing I see makes that rifle inferior or incorrect. Help me out here, what am I not seeing?

Re: Look what I found for 129.00!
Awesome find. That was the type I was looking for at Gander Mountain last Tuesday, but all they had were 42 & 43 round receivers (they had one 39 round Ishevsk). Very common stuff. I was hoping to grab a hex ex dragoon, but no such luck. You got a great rifle at a great price

Re: Frustrating turn in the Mosin collectcibles market
Thanks to MarksmanTim's tip, I'm picking up a crate at my semi-local Gander for $30 tomorrow. It must vary store to store. Since they were just throwing them out I got the feeling from talking to the clerk that selling the crates is not an official policy, but that the employees/managers...

Re: Frustrating turn in the Mosin collectcibles market
On the bright side hoshow, it allows you to absolutely know you are getting a Tula hex, you'll just have to pay for the privelege. The thing that bugs me most is the accessories being sold separately. Yeah that stinks because it almost eliminates the possibility of getting a matching serial # on th...

Re: Frustrating turn in the Mosin collectcibles market
I thought they always charged extra for a Tula? I remember paying a bit more for a Tula from some dealer, I needed the date from that arsenal. In fact I remember paying more for Tula more than once for that reason. JYD they have not been since I started collecting, but may have been a common practi...

Frustrating turn in the Mosin collectcibles market
I see that AIM is now separating out Tula and charging $20 extra like they do for hex. This sucks as it eliminates the chance of ordering a hex and getting a hex Tula. I suspect that other dealers will follow suit. I also saw a crate at Gander Mountain today and asked the guy what they did them. He ...

And a big thank you to everyone who added their input. You guys helped me off the ledge. It was pretty sweet to handle and look at all those Mosins today (the clerk who helped me when I went back let me see whatever I wanted.

Re: I need help guys
Thanks Dolk. I almost succumbed to buying fever. I haven't bought in a while and had my heart set on getting something, but I only have the ok from my wife to buy one right now, so I would rather get something I really want not settle just for the sake of buying something.

Re: I need help guys
I didn't buy anything. I can order a hex from a couple places for less than what they wanted for pretty common stuff. I am frustrated because on the phone the guy told me he knew mosins and that they had hexes and ex dragoons neither was true. He actually said he knew a lot about nagants which shoul...
