Re: Dragon's Latest Find

Thanks for all the comments. This is my first piece that doesn't have a date with the range in its future. One will never know the true history but if it was cobbled together during the western movie era, they sure didnt leave any tool marks on it. We've looked under magnification and can't find a s...

Dragon's Latest Find

I picked up an unusual piece, for me, since I usually go for shooters. This one intrigued me so much that after a couple of weeks drooling over it, I had to buy it. Spent a ton though. It's a Colt Model 1858 Navy. Certainly Civil War era. What makes this unusual is that its a Colt frame with Metropo...

Re: S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

Sounds like the way to go. I need to keep shooting something. I'm enroute to Dallas Gain. Spending the night in Pecos. I'll check that out when I get back. Thanks for the info.

Re: S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

I'll have to check them out. Right now, even loading supplies have been tough to get. Primers of any size, .223 bullets are non existent, brass is spotty at best.

Re: S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

Well thanks. I usually did pretty well in the Corps although we rarely shot enough to satisfy me. Just annual or before a deployment. I didn't qual expert with the 1911. Just Sharpshooter, but as I recall, not too far away. The 1911's we had were pretty well abused. They actually rattled. Now I know...

Re: S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

I'm pretty tickled with It. Shoots much better than my old issue pistols. I'll consider it a keeper.

Re: S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

I already have a Dillon 550B. I just need the dies and quick change kit to do the .38 's. currently, I'm just set up for 9mm & .223.

Makes sense. Since now have two revolvers that take .38 specials.

S&W 1942 Victory Range Report

I took the '42 Victory to the range yesterday. Friday is Ladies Day, so no range fee. Supposed to be limited to 1 hour, but I'm able to go during the early afternoon when its not busy. They haven't kicked me out yet. Good deal, hun 8-) . Okay now down to business, I shot at both 25 and 40 ft. I know...

Re: Smith & Wesson Victory

Wow. Okay, I'll look into that. I tossed an inquiry via the S&W forum. I'll bring it to my gunsmith for a look. I'm not sure it's even bad. Just a little rotation. Not a budge fore and aft. He'll look at it for free. I'll just bring donuts.. Besides I need to brag on my little coach gun too.

Re: Smith & Wesson Victory

Thanks. It's a very interesting piece. I carried an issue one in the Marine Corps right up til I retired n 91. Handling it was like coming home.

Re: Smith & Wesson Victory

That's what I was thinking too. Probably have to go to S&W archives to get that. I think they want $50 for that. I'm a cheapskate.

Re: Smith & Wesson Victory

Nope. Cleaned it up a bit this morning. Going to the range with it and a couple of other pistolas next Friday. With all this recent craziness, I'm trying to manage my ammo expenditure. Don't have much .38 special on hand.
