Re: Finally got a Makarov!

Thanks, everybody! I think I'm rapidly becoming a Makarovnik; it's good to see some other folks here who appreciate this gorgeous gun! If I decide to get my CCW, I want to make it my EDC. Right now I'm just doing my homework on it to make sure I care for it properly, and of course, as much target pr...

Re: Ruger MKIII

My fiance and I own two Ruger MKIII 22/45s between us. Neither of us have ever had a problem with them breaking or malfunctioning, and we shoot them on almost a weekly basis. Great target pistols, very accurate and cheap to shoot. They'll eat anything, the only failures on the range have been due to...

Finally got a Makarov!

Hi, guys! I'm so excited about this, just wanted to share. I've always wanted a Makarov PM. Years ago, I had bought an FEG PA-63, thinking it would be pretty close to a Mak, and found I didn't care for it much. Then, several months ago, someone put a Bulgarian Makarov (with Russian-style grips) on c...

Re: Question concerning M44

The asking price is about what I paid for my Hungarian M44, in similar condition. It's a sweet carbine and I feel I got a fair deal. :)

Re: Pristine 1953 Polish M44

Whoa, that's gorgeous! I've never seen a Mosin in that good of shape in real life. The wood grain is beautiful, looks like it was manufactured yesterday! Has it never been packed in Cosmolene, or what? The wood grain looks really open. Most of the blacking is missing off my M44, and the stock is all...

Re: Cleaning your rifle initially and after shooting!

Oh, interesting. I'd been letting the Hoppe's soak in with the rifle on the horizontal, but only for a half hour or so. I didn't know you could leave it in for that long. I don't get to shoot my Mosin Nagant very often, but next time I do, I'll try this! And yes, the cleaner was an old U.S. military...

Re: hi point 9mm carbine question.

My other half used to own this carbine in .40 cal. It ate everything with gusto. If you're having a problem with it misfeeding, just send it back for service. Hi Point has a lifetime, no-questions-asked guarantee on their weapons much like Craftsman tools, doesn't matter how many owners it's had.

Re: How do I spell the arsenals

Hahaha! Yes, it seems that accents are nigh impossible to lose, although I have met a couple people who have managed to do it--and to me, it's a pity. I've heard tell that Germans think girls with American accents are cute-sounding, so I'd have that in my favor if I ever visited. I wonder what Russi...

Re: How do I spell the arsenals

Oh dear, have I committed a faux pas? If so, I apologize. I just meant that I enjoy the sounds of other languages, whether or not I understand the content. The Russian language has always fascinated me because the sounds are so different, and so difficult for an American vocal apparatus to produce. ...

Re: How do I spell the arsenals

Hahaha, I listened to the pronunciation guide for Izhevsk thrice to try to learn how to say it, and upon realizing I couldn't make those sounds, thrice more just because Russian sounds so sexy. I'm not even sure I want to learn Russian, because the sounds of it are so nice without understanding the ...

Re: Cleaning your rifle after shooting!

Interesting and informative thread! A quick anecdote from my VERY modest experience--I'd been using Hoppes #9 to clean my M44 after each shoot. Last Sunday, we shot some old Soviet surplus ammo through it and cleaned it with the Hoppes as usual. The next day, my other half came home with an OLD tin ...
