Re: An Arisaka Type 99 is calling my name

I have vet bring back Kokura Arsenal Series 21 S/N 22xxx of 99,999 1939 –1945 w/ Chrysanthemum w/ aircraft wings and my stock finish and metal does NOT resemble the pictures that you have posted. The original owner ditched the monopod and noisy cover somewhere in the South Pacific prior to his join...

Another possible purchase, your thoughts needed

Here's another I'm taking a look at. Your thoughts are valued and appreciated. The barrel stamping seems quite crude, but I don't have a keen eye for such things yet.

Re: An Arisaka Type 99 is calling my name

I'm not sure how we ever got to the "if it was" discussion. I knew it was. I just didn't know how far off this rifle was as a whole.

Just some pics on my phone that are terrible and I can't retrieve. I might go take a look at it next week and get some better shots.

Re: An Arisaka Type 99 is calling my name

Local shop has it for $200. However, it's been "restored" meaning the stock has been refinished and the barrel re-blued. I don't have any Japanese guns, and I know it's not original, but man, it's a beauty. I need to resist... Did the shop tell you the rifle was "restored" or do...

Re: M38 considering buying

I don't want to criticize your life style, especially from my point of view, but if you lack $30 for gas what the heck are you considering buying a rifle or pistol for much more? That's not the point. I don't lack it. Really, it's more the hassle. It's also about the total price. The gas represents...

Re: M38 considering buying

$125 for the M38, $135 for the pistol. Only trouble is I'd have to spend $30 in gas to get it.

I think it looks pretty darn good, too. You might want to consider renaming it "Peanut" in light of the packing job! :chuckles:

M38 considering buying

I'm considering buying an M38 from a guy. Dated 1943, counterbored. I don't have an M38, but from what I gather this is not rare or special, just a regular M38. What do y'all think? It's on an M44 stock. He's also selling a Nagant Pistol http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm60/wegngis/M381.jpg http:...

Here's a really quick pic of the 1943 Izhevsk, round receiver. My first round. The wood is beautiful!
