Re: Frozen Mosin's

Heck yes I'm going to be there! :) looks like I need to practice more... And decide which mosin to bring. It is a fun time, and anyone who can make it should. It's kind of like the winter war. Lots of dufferent Russian mosin, and a good handful of Finnish. My mistake last year was switching ammo hal...

Re: Boresnake for Mosin

I use the Otis cleaning kit. Very similar to the bore snake in that it is a pull through cord. I like the kit, it saves space and is handy in the field. I will say, and many others will agree, that a good brass or coated cleaning rod and a breech guide are much better and will do a better job. Plus,...

Re: mojo sights on m39

To reiterate what others have said, practice is the most important key to good marksmanship. Practice the fundamentals, keep your equipment in top shape, as well as yourself. Doing this will make sure no matter what rifle you are shooting, you'll be able to get top performance out of it.

Re: mojo sights on m39

Ouch, I can feel the burn from here, lol. I know the sights are not needed, but they are a fun change of pace, and I thought others who were interested in buying them would like some more info.

mojo sights on m39

First off, let me start by saying I am not a salesman or employed by mojo sights. This is just a review as to how they worked on my Finnish m39. I had been toying with the idea of getting these sights for about a year now, and finally saved up the ~=$100 for the sights and the aperture pack. The fro...

Great looking pair of rifles you have there. I also really like the stock pouch you have. Where did you get it? I think my mosins need ones like that. Very authentic look. :D

Maybe a new salt mine has opened up. Or, the companies knew the market was about to be flooded, and created hype to sell what they had at a higher price.

1969 m39 showcase consideration

Up for your consideration finally is my 1969 m39 on an 1898 reciever. I bought it from a gentleman that I purchased another rifle from some time ago, and probably payed more than I should have. Serial number is 304050, bolt matches, it is in a post war stock in good condition with lots of shims. The...

best cast bullet, powder, powder weight for 7.62x54r

The title says most of it. I'm having a hard time finding jacketed bullets for reloading, so was looking into cast bullets, as I can find those. What types of powder and powder weight are best for 180-200 grain gas checked bullets?
thanksin advance for the help. :)

Re: M9130 1942 Tula

Hot water and mineral spirits or kersosene will clean the grease right up. Don't forget to oil well afterwards as mineral spirits strip the metals natural oil as well, leaving it with no protection. Just throwing this out there, Ed's red bore cleaner work fantasticaly as well, and it is a cheap effe...

Re: D166 replica handloads

The h414 powder is flake/ball and has a hard time igniting in these cold Maine winters with normal primers. I would get hang fires 8 out of 10 times. So I switched to the magnum primers for the hotter and longer burn time and the issue was resolved. plus, since I am using the lee dippers as compared...

Very nice looking rifle. :) you'll be very happy with it and how well it shoots. It almost looks like there is something on the tang, but I cant make it out... the reciever looks good too. Enjoy!

D166 replica handloads

I made up some ammo using 200 grain lapua d166 bullets, ppu cases, magnum primers, and 3.1 cc of h414 powder. It shot well when I loaded it with my lee classic loader but these ones were loaded with the lee hand press and 7.62x54r dies, so I am expecting better results. Case length overall is 3.005≈...

Re: number on top of sight

An 8.5 would help your point of aim move from 6 o'clock to more on target. The one that is on yours now was put there at the arsenal so it would shoot well and spot on for 6 o'clock hold.
At least that's how I understand it.

Re: 10th annual Frozen Mosin

It was a fantastic time, and even though I had to leave early for work, I'm glad I made it. Way to go bimmey! Glad you beat out that scoped m44 and the pu snipers. Just goes to show how good these Finns are. They won another winter "war" I blame the fact I didn't win was because I switched...

Very nice second addition to what I am sure will be a growing collection. Buy now while they are still relatively cheap! Then buy more! Great looking stock too.
