Re: I'm still having problems with the SKS
Unless the bolt is in full battery, the disconnector will not allow the trigger bar to contact the sear. In other words, if the hammer drops, then it is in battery. Now, since I don't have the initial story, how was it that the firing pin retainer was diagnosed? And how was it repaired? Also, have y...

Even if you showed the targets or faces, I wouldn't see them. Nice pics of a marksman rifle in its natural habitat.

Re: Took Some Pics: SKS-M
Were all of the "M"s short barreled or is that a paratrooper M? 8-) The first AK-mag conversion models were full length and had the bayonets attached. These were called the SKS-D, Type 84, and Mid-West conversion. Then the George HW Bush assault weapons ban was enacted, and subsequent mod...

Re: Late Remington 03-A3: One of my best
Thank you, all. At the start of this year, I had no plans to have a 1903 collection. But this gun and its Smith Corona cousin caused me to pause when I found them on the same gun rack in a shop. Would I ever find another opportunity to land one in this condition? It didn't take long to decide. ;) Sh...

Took Some Pics: SKS-M
I was considering a possible trade a few days ago, so I took some pics of one of my SKS-M's. Haven't heard "Boo" from the guy since I sent them. So, why waste an opportunity to show it off? 1989 import, thumbhole stock model, and 30 rd Bulgarian mag. Some shooters can't adjust for the shou...

Late Remington 03-A3: One of my best
As promised, I had some time today present the pristine cousin of the Smith Corona. It's a 4200492 serial, with a 9-43 barrel. All labeled parts are Remington and it's still has cosmoline in the action. I could clean it, but I can't bring myself to even touch it with a cloth to wipe it down. Crisp, ...

Re: 1945 M38 carbine
I haven't had the luxury of trying to fill out model lines yet, but I was fortunate that the first M38 that I found at a gun shop last February had a 1939 date. If I could only get half as lucky finding a '45, or the Tulas. Nice guns, all!

Nothing beats a cool evening, the hanging smoke of powder, and the clink that accompanies a jumping can. Nice shooting!

Yes, assumptions are great rumor starters. Suffice to say, it does look appropriate leading into the range demarcations.Junk Yard Dog wrote:Could be, I always assumed it was, but you know the old saying about assuming stuff.

Re: RGUNS PU Sniper
When R-guns runs out, the value will jump quickly to $1,200. Parting with the money now might not be as hard as you think! I already have my $800 sniper, BTW. So it's not really that difficult for me to spend everyone else's money. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/thumbs/pu_pol_001.jpg

After you reach 50 years old, Longcolt, the doctor will find another use for it. And for that few moments, it has a sensation of being much larger than .30cal.

The scrolled "m" on the right side rear sight base is also interesting. Metre?

Re: Simth Corona 03-A3, Fresh from Rearsenal
That is one beautifule rifle! 8-) 8-) 8-) Can you get a good sight picture through that front sight protector? I had to remove mine, I just couldnt see through the dang thing. I don't know??? I haven't shot one with the sight hood. I have shot this Remington, as JYD has requested to see. It busts u...

An intact crest is a huge plus on the infantry length rifle. That one is also a real looker.

Re: AK 47 or AK 74?
If you're going to be shooting a lot, the 5.45X39 is a little cheaper to operate. I haven't ventured into the AK-74 variants, as my stock of ammunition is chiefly in 7.62X39 - mostly for my SKS's, but I do have one Romanian WASR 10/63. It's been a blast to shoot, but accuracy is limited to 5MOA at b...

Re: Simth Corona 03-A3, Fresh from Rearsenal
Want to know how it shoots? Very, very, well, that's how :) The 03A3 is a marksmans rifle, it's no accident that the military shooting teams used them for so long, and did so well with them. Mine are among the best shooters I own, only the Finn M39's come close to them . Very nice rifle, now clean ...

Simth Corona 03-A3, Fresh from Rearsenal
Yep, this baby is just like it came from the refurbishment line yesterday. I picked this up a couple of months ago with a few other US military rifles. I haven't had the heart to wipe down the cosmoline, so I'm not sure how it shoots. Not many left like this one. Enough yakking. Some pics for you al...
