Re: SKS Broken stock fix ?

Give it at least twice as long as the bottle says. You can't let it go too long.

Re: Buttstock ammo pouch

What's wrong with the leather pouch that came with rifle in the first place?

I carry ammo in them to the range all the time. Works just like they were designed. I have some slung on an old belt.

Re: .308 M1 Garand vs .30-06

The advice is get as nice a grade infantry Garand as you can, note that these Garand snipers are all pretty well used, they will never perform as they would have with perfect barrels, and in the 50's these would have been retired and rebarreled . You would end up spending near two grand or more and...

Re: .308 M1 Garand vs .30-06

'"The scope base that is part of the barrel assembly is included and ready for a customer supplied scope and mount" The scope and mount are not easy to find or cheap. OK, so it sounds like the advice is find the scope first. Then if, and only if I ever find one, worry about a rifle. If I ...

Re: .308 M1 Garand vs .30-06

That would be very expensive and require a barrel swap, USGI M1 C and D snipers are not as numerous as PU's. You could buy three PU's ( real ones) for what a M1 sniper of any sort goes for. It's as expensive as crap, that true. In fact, it's more expensive than crap. Here's the CMP link, and they c...

Re: .308 M1 Garand vs .30-06

So really .30-06 is the way to go for a traditionalist is what I'm hearing. I may have been a sailor in real life, but I'm not looking for a collection of Navy weapons. Where am I going to keep the torpedoes? I do have the delusions that I could put one of the R-Guns PUs next to an M1, but as I aske...

.308 M1 Garand vs .30-06

I was looking at the CMP web site today. I figure that if I'm going to buy an M1 I'd better get cracking because the worlds best gun salesman has just about everything flying off the shelves everywhere else. Hell, even plain old 91/30s are gone. But irrespective, I noticed that they had them listed ...

If I order one addressed to me, do I personally have to be home to sign for it? Or can my wife sign for it?

She's obviously an adult signature.

Re: Ammo Source Found !

What's wrong with the smell of bacon grease, I love bacon :) In the proper context there is nothing wrong with it. Bacon with pancakes. Bacon with eggs. Bacon on cheeseburgers. Bacon bits on maccaroni and cheese. BLT. But it wrecks a pie crust. And lard makes a hell of a lot better pie crust than C...

Re: Ammo Source Found !

There is a substitute for Bacon grease that's actually quite tasty and can be flavored as you please (unlike Bacon grease, which always reeks of bacon).

This wonder product is called lard.

Re: Interesting trip to the gun show

Was talking to a female LEO here last week and was surprised she was a gun taker. Said she never even thought about them and her work which really surprised me. Male or female makes no difference. I think about 60% of the LEOs see their sidearm as a nuisance. The tool they use the most is their ink...

Darn it. I've been trying to avoid this myself. Now you've gone and jacked me up again about it.

I'll be awake all night trying to figure out if I can explain it to my wife. She's hell bent for an AR before they get banned.

But I've got thousands of rounds of 7.63x54. And not one for an AR.

Re: Just ordered 20 stripper clips for my Mosins

Don't hide from corrosive ammo. You clean your rifle don't you? Well, that's all it takes. It isn't like the stuff sits in the can waiting or you to go to sleep, then creeps out to corrode the barrel. A quart of hot water after the range and all the corrosive salts are down the drain. Then clean up ...

Well the Jan 6 update is the first I've heard of it in months.

Most folks I've heard were beginning to dismiss it all as fanciful tall tales.

Maybe there will be one news after all.

My browser says just over 200 still in stock. But maybe it's cached behind some queue that I can't ping through.

Still that's well over a hundred cases sold this morning, and the site is enforcing a one case per order limit.
