Re: OT, VAC

Hey Steve - Mr. Hlavinka and I don't live too far away from you. If you need somebody to stop by your house to check up on the Mosin family while you're on vacation, just let us know . We'd be more than happy to make sure that they get enough excercise  .

Re: Aguila sniper subsonic 60 grain: field testing

I've had mixed results with the Aguila 60gr SSS rounds. The bullet needs a fast twist barrel for stabilization. The typical .22 lr barrel is a 1:16 twist - not really fast enough for the heavy bullet. This is why you were seeing the rounds keyhole at 25 yds. My best success with the SSS rounds is wh...

Re: Armscor M1600 .22

Interesting plinker you have there, mogunner - like a lot of listers here, I, too, have a fondness for .22 lr rifles. Looking at your 100 yd target - was that shot with the CCI Blazer? If I look at the targets below your top sighter row, it looks like just a shade over 1" vertical dispersion an...

Re: Mosin Nagant Barrel Life

Poor cleaning techniques can ruin a bore faster than shooting it can. +1 - Perhaps one of our "enterprising" listers could develop a good cleaning rod guide for the M-N receiver. These are a must if you really want to do the job right and minimize wear and/or damage to the rifling. Mike

Re: This looks like fun

Here's another .22lr AR option for you - here's some pics of my setup. It's a Tactical Solutions dedicated .22lr upper on top of a RRA NM lower. So, if you already have an AR-15, this could maybe work for you. Fun to shoot, and pretty accurate, too! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y286/dr...

Not really sure, maybe 2 1/2".
Mr. H - That is a 3" dia. Birchwood Casey target dot (got a few more left in my shooting box for our next Fun-With-Firearms outing  ).

Re: Swede M96. Why Not?

That is too bad, so young, so ugly. Have you thought of 80 grit on a belt sander?? Do you think that would work to remove those wierd stripey marks? :vconfused: If it didn't work, you'd at least have a nice rough surface for the spray-on truck bed liner to adhere to :D . All kidding aside - some be...

Re: PMC Bronze .223 55gr FMJBT 1000rds $279.95+$16SH

A great price for this stuff. I've shot a 1000+ rounds of the PMC through my Stag AR. Good accuracy. The brass is high quality if you're a reloader. Be advised however that the primers are crimped and the crimp will have to be removed before reloading.

Some Sunday morning humor......

Can't believe nobody has jumped on this, yet - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =255201672 . $445, a small price to pay for such a fine rifle produced by the famous "star and arrow" arsenal :D .

Nice shooting! And, a ten shot group really tells the story of the shooter and the gun, as opposed to the infamous "one shot into one ragged hole all day long, if I do my part" group :D .

I'll admit that I cherry picked that particular group from several targets I have kept from that gun. The trick is to repeat a group like that on demand. Ain't happening with bulk ammo such as Fed Automatch. But it can happen, occasionally ;)

Re: A pair of H&R M12s

Nice :) Something for me to keep an eye out for. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) Thanks, JYD. And, the M12 is U.S. property marked as it was used as a military match rifle - that might add to the appeal for you. So keep your eyes peeled for one. Never got into those... Maybe a good thing. I can't afford to keep up...

Re: 2 Mausers Sorta

Very cook, Erik - thanks for sharing the pics :D . I guess it is similar in concept to a Polish WZ48 trainer for the Mosin platform. It looks as though the receiver has a dovetail built into it. Any thoughts of mounting a scope on it, at least temporarily to check accuracy? Mike Way ahead of you Mi...

A pair of H&R M12s

Hey smallbore fans - here's some pics of my two H&R M12 22lr match rifles. The one with the adjustable buttplate also has had action pillars and bedding added. The other one is pretty much standard, except a PO stained the birch stock for some reason. Both are quite accurate :D . Mike http://i7....

Went shooting, took pics - PART 2

So here's a pic of me taken by Mr. Hlavinka during our recent outing over the weekend. The rifle is a Savage 12 Palma (.308 Win) which I bought not too long ago. I'm trying to get it dialed in for an upcoming 300 yd match followed a few weeks later by a 600 yd match. I know it's not a Mosin - but at...

Looks like fun, but what is wrong with mikey's face? Nah, nothing wrong with my face. Actually, Mr. Hlavinka is just covering for me. The *real* reason I don't want my photo taken is that since my portrait has begun showing up in post offices I'm a little reluctant to have it show up on the 'net, t...

Re: BSA Rimfire Riflescope

I just don't want to drill the receiver on my old Remington bolt action, as it was made sometime around 1940. [/img] BD - I do not own any BSA scopes but also have heard positive reviews on them. And, I am *quite* sure that you don't want to drill the receiver on your vintage Remington :o . If orig...
