Anyone recognize these markings?

Thanks, I guess I wasn't clear though. I was referring to the markings on the bolt handle by the base. I'm trying to identify the origins of the bolt handle component, before the Finns got their hands on it. Just hoping someone sees something I don't. I should have not included the other components ...

On the handle portion? I'm not seeing that. I'll have to check more closely

Anyone recognize these markings?

Not on a rifle, but a spare bolt I've used as a desktop paperweight for years. I put this bolt together back when mosins were plentiful and cheap and gun shops had a bin full of misc parts sitting around. I basically cherry picked anything that wasn't a common Izhevsk or Tula. It's a mix of pre-28 p...

Decides to dust off the collection

I'm sure I'll add more, but storage is really my main issue. I'm more into cars, so my limited storage area is full of car parts and other various odds and end. Only had so much storage space for my firearms and really didn't need ten 91/30s. Kept my two fave and got rid of the rest. I don't miss an...

Re: Decides to dust off the collection

Sorry to hear about your wife Rowdy, hope things turn a corner for the positive for you and her. You are right. Range will always be there, but I'm getting the itch again. Sadly I've noticed ammo is a bit tougher to come by locally. I have a spam can, but trying not to open it. I have enoiygh for a ...

Decides to dust off the collection

Family life and other hobbies have put my Mosin (and shooting) on the back burner. It's been well over a year since I laid eyes on them, so decided to break them out. Still haven't shot them in 2 years, but that's another story. Gotta get out to the range soon I've had a bunch, but sold many off and...

Nice rifle.

My SCW collection consists of a stock only. No action. At least it's got the wooden replacement handguard

Re: First Mosins

My first Mosin and firearm ever. No big story really. After months of research, I came across the Mosin and fell in love with the ugly thing. Local gun store had $99 sale. So I went and grabbed a box. I got this and guess it's a good one ;) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/29/zejuja9e.jpg Sent from m...

Re: Spam can pricing

Shipping ammo to MA is....difficult. So LGS usually the only source. Not uncommon to see spam cans $179 and up. Finding surplus x54 here has been tougher lately. Now all I find is commercial stuff. Every time I go to an LGS I like to buy a couple packs of surplus. Haven't in months. Good think I sto...

I'll wait it it to come out on blu-ray, blast it in my home theater while cleaning my M44.

Scratch that. M44s weren't around for Stalingrad. Need to buy m38

Re: Made a poor purchase decision on a 91/30. What to do no

If the trigger break concerns you, purchase a new sear and swap then out. Fairly easy to do and it will change the way the trigger breaks. Overall, the trigger pull and moving bolt should not take away from the value. While $199 is high for a refurb, seems prices are creeping up to the point where i...

Re: 91/30 price increase

$150 is still not bad for a rifle. Any other mil surp is $200-300 or more.

If I didn't want to diversify, I'd snag a few more Mosins, but I think I want a nice k98 now

Re: Interrupter question for 4th round

There are videos on YouTube showing how to adjust the interrupter by bending it slightly. I've done this to all my Mosins and all 5 rounds in the magazine feed beautifully with no regard to rim orientation. I can load my strippers any way I'd like without fear of rim lock. I'd imagine years of sitti...

Re: Wise to "invest" in a few more?

I don't view firearms as an investment. To me they are a hobby first, and then any appreciation is just a bonus. I've sold a few Mosins to consolidate since my space is at a premium and did make a slight profit (although with inflation not much) But to me it's a hobby first and sonething I enjoy doi...
